@Vertous:
1) The banner basically reads "The Iron Barrel: wine bar and restaurant" in Italian.
I just figured that "Ristorante" would be easy enough to guess, and that's the only word of any relevance there.

Background text is often written in random languages to highlight that the city the comic takes pace is nowhere specific.

2) This will be answered in the next page. But you're free to try and take a guess before i update. ^^

I take it that's the reasoning behind each member of the Police having their badge say 'police' in a different language, as well. Are the languages intended to match up to the 'native' languages of the respective officers, or are they just random (i.e. an officer of Swedish name and appearance has 'polisen', a 'Hungarian' officer has 'rendorsege', etc.)?

It's actually random.
For example, Mikayla got a Polish name, while "Police" is written in English on her jacket and in Spanish on her car.
